It is located close to the Geneva site of the United Nations complex and to most other international organisations The Swiss Government placed CICG at the disposal of the German Swiss Radiation Protection association for the period of the Congress. This illustrates the traditional Swiss policy to support activities which aim to achieve international consensus.

The CICG offers facilities for up to 3,500 persons in a variety of lecture theatres, conference rooms, and offices equipped with best available technology. There is adequate space for poster presentations and a technical exhibit. The CICG also hosts a post office, a bar and a restaurant seating 600.
